Alright, so you want to start a club at Brock. BUSU is where it’s at in that case. Not only do you get access to a ton of resources and funding, but you get support and advice on how to run your club. Athletic clubs, I’m sorry but due to our insurance, we can’t ratify you.

Before starting a club, I suggest you read up on the Club Handbook and Bylaw 2550 the Clubs By-law to familiarize yourself with your rights and responsibilities. Our tips section is also always helpful. To start a club with BUSU, here’s what you need:

  1. 10 members and their signatures on a membership list and their waivers. If you want to charge a membership fee, $3 is about average
  2. Three Executive, minimum. Your Exec must have a President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer and you can add as many as you think you’ll need.
  3. A completed Club Constitution. That’s a rough guideline there, with the mandatory sections noted, but have fun with it!

Once you have those three things, you can go ahead and ratify below! As a preview of what you can expect, here are the sections you’ll be filling out:

  1. Club Information – Name, description, etc. The description should be around 100 words, but you can go over or under, no worries
  2. Executive information – your contact information, in detail
  3. Policy Acknowledgements – Please read and familiarize yourself with these
  4. Constitution – Just upload it here!
  5. Email request – Straightforward
  6. Certify all information is accurate and you’ll go to the next page
  7. Print off final forms, fill them out and sign them, then deliver them to the Clubs Manager
  8. Get your membership list filled with 10 members and 3 exec and have EVERYONE fill out waivers
  9. Annnnnd you’re done!

We’ll let you know within 2 weeks whether you’ve been ratified. If you’ve followed all the instructions, you’re pretty well guaranteed it!
