Luke Speers, Vice-President, University Affairs

Hi everyone and welcome to the New Year. I am a 4th year Philosophy and Political Science double major here at Brock University and I have had an incredible experience being a student, and that is what I hope to help give students this year at Brock. I have been fortunate to take advantage of all the experiences available beyond the classroom and they have made a world of difference. If I can make suggestion to all first year students, Academics are the point of University, but it’s not the end. When you think about leaving here in 4 short years, your average will be nice, ut you should have a lot more memories than what is on your transcript.

The Vice President, University Affairs is responsible for advocating for the undergraduate students of Brock University to all stake holders; be it to the Administration through representation on the University Senate, or municipally through working with our local Town and Gown Committees. The primary Provincial and Federal Lobby responsibilities also fall under the University Affairs portfolio and I work with our partners, the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance, and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations to leverage an organized student voice to provincial and federal governments to address the needs of students nationwide. Finally, creating engagement between the undergraduate students here at Brock with their University and Students’ Union as well as the larger community is both a responsibility and priority of mine.
